Results Day Summer 24

We hope your results are agreeable and will allow you to progress on to your chosen career option.

What to do now? – Celebrate!

If you have applied for University then you can do nothing until you have heard from them – expect to hear within a few days, they have your results so have had a chance to reflect on them. If you have met one of your offers then you will have a place, so do not worry. UCAS will be open for queries and questions from 8am on results day. Sign in to the UCAS website – www.ucas.com for updates following the release of results. There is no need to telephone the university – they will be busy with other applicants! If you haven’t made the entry requirements for either university don’t panic as they may still accept you – but you may need to contact the university to check.

Rejected by both Universities? You are automatically entered into the Clearing process. We strongly advise you, however, to seek help and guidance from the staff at college – do not be tempted to grab any place offered without sufficient thought. It is important that you get on to this as soon as possible, hours matter, speak to a GST today. Information on course vacancies are on the Internet – www.ucas.com

Can I change my mind as to the University I wish to go to? If you have been accepted you are expected to go there and trying to change is risky – seek guidance from your GST.

Is it too late to apply to University? No but seek help from staff.

Applied for employment or an apprenticeship? You should have that in hand but if you want help / advice then please ask.

If your results aren’t as good as you hoped it isn’t the end of the world. There are still lots of options available to you.

Post Results

There are a variety of post results services available including:

Service 1: Clerical Check - A clerical check of a marked paper makes sure:

« All the pages were marked

« All the marks were counted

« The result matches the marks on the paper.

The deadline for completion is within 10 calendar days of the awarding body receiving the request.

Service 2: Review of Marking - A review of marking can be requested to ensure that the agreed mark scheme has been applied correctly, this does not mean the exam script is remarked.

A  marking error can occur due to:

« an administrative error;

« a failure to apply the mark scheme where a task only has a 'right' or 'wrong' answer;

« an unreasonable exercise of academic judgement.

The awarding body will train its reviewers to conduct reviews of marking accurately and consistently. Reviewers will not remark the exam script. They will only act to correct any errors identified in the original marking.

A  review of marking will include:

« a clerical check as detailed in service 1;

« a review of marking as described above.

« The deadline for completion is within 20 calendar days of the awarding body receiving the request.

Service 2P: Priority Review of Marking

If your university place is at risk please speak to a member of the Exams Team urgently with regards to a priority appeal. You cannot request a priority script if you are applying for a priority appeal.

A priority review of marking will follow the same process as outlined above, however the awarding bodies will give these reviews priority due to university places pending.

You are strongly advised to contact your university to notify them that a review of results has been requested. By informing them, they may be able to keep your place open until the review has been completed.

An awarding body will not inform UCAS or others that a review of marking has been requested, however it will advise UCAS of any grade change following a review.

The deadline for completion is within 15 calendar days of the awarding body receiving the request.

Access to Scripts - Scripts can be requested for the following reasons

« Scripts to support reviews of marking (priority)

« Scripts to support teaching and learning (non-priority)

Candidate consent must be obtained before copies of scripts can be requested. Consent can be provided via email from your S6F College account.

Please be aware that access to scripts is free but all other services are charged at different rates in accordance with the awarding body charges. There are also deadlines around using these services which must be adhered to.

If you have queries or questions about the post results services available, please see the exams manager or get in touch via email – exams@s6f.org.uk

After results day it is advisable to ring or email exams@s6f.org.uk first to check on availability of exams office staff.

Certificates – students leaving College summer 2024

Certificates will be issued to candidates at the College Presentation Evening in December 2024. If the College is unable to hold a presentation evening, separate guidance will be emailed to students (using your college email address).

Details of the presentation evening will be posted to the last home address we have on file, so students must make sure they advise Student Services of any permanent change of address.

If students are unable to attend the Presentation Evening, certificates will be available to collect from the Exams Office by pre-agreed appointment only from the start of the January 2025.

Student’s may want their certificates posting to their home address, written consent for this must be given (email exams@s6f.org.uk) and a fee of £8.00 is payable via Wisepay. Certificates are posted via a trackable service. They will not be posted until both written consent and payment have been received.

Certificates can be collected by a designated person at a pre-agreed appointment time, but written consent (email exams@s6f.org.uk) must be given by the student which names the person collecting the certificates and the collecting person must bring photo ID.

Certificates for returning students

For any student continuing their study at college, certificates will be available to collect from the Exams Office from January 2025.

Uncollected certificates

Certificates will be kept at College until January 2026.

After this time, certificates must be either confidentially destroyed or returned to the relevant Awarding Body and students will need to contact the Awarding Body directly. Currently most awarding bodies charge a fee of around £50.00 per subject for replacement certificates.
