Applicant Journey
Step 1 - Explore Subject Options
Go to the Courses section of the website to see all of the subjects that you can choose from. You can mix and match nearly any combination including mixing Applied Generals with A Levels. The applicant journey is designed to help you decide which are the best courses for you so don't worry if you change your mind after you've applied. You don't need to make a final decision on subjects until enrolment at the end of August.
Step 2 - Attend an Open Event
Once you've narrowed down your choices (and even if you haven't!), it is a good idea to come and look around the college at an open event. This is your chance to speak to teachers and current students and ask any questions that you have about the courses and the college. Booking for an open event is essential - go to the Events page to see the dates and book your place.
Step 3 - Complete an Online Application
Applications open in October for the following September. We have a preferred deadline of the end of January as a guideline for when to apply, however we still accept applications after this point.
To complete an application, go to https://apply.s6f.org.uk
Step 4 - Attend an Interview
You will be invited in to college to discuss your course choices with a member of staff. Interviews are scheduled between January and April and are allocated in order of application date so the earlier you apply, the earlier in the year your interview will be.
Step 5 - S6F Preview
S6F Preview is the college taster day. After you've finished your GCSEs, you'll attend college for the day to try out some subjects and really experience what it's like to be a Scarborough Sixth Form College student. Not only does this help you to decide on subjects, but our students tell us that attending the taster day meant that they felt a lot less anxious about starting college in the September.
Step 6 - Finance & Travel
All students both new and returning will be sent a text at the end of July with a link for them to complete the finance application form as well as the bus pass application form. Go to the Financial Support and Travel pages for more information.
Step 7 - Enrolment
Enrolment is when you make a final decision about your course choices and select a full study programme for September. This is always in the final week of August after you have received your GCSE results. You will be sent an appointment date and time in advance.
