Travel

Please note: Information is subject to change each academic year

While many of our students live in the Scarborough area, a significant number also travel from Filey, Pickering, Malton, Bridlington, Driffield, Whitby and further afield to attend the College.

We are committed to ensuring that travel is not a barrier for students wishing to take advantage of the wide range of opportunities we offer. To support this, a variety of transport options are available. These include dedicated bus services provided by the College and North Yorkshire Council (NYCC), as well as a range of public bus services.

£1 bus fares for young people

Currently, young people aged 18 or under only need to pay only £1 for a single journey on most bus routes in North Yorkshire. Students will often need to ask the bus driver for the £1 fare as they are not always given automatically.

Cost of college and NYCC bus passes

College transport is heavily subsidised to help reduce costs for students. The charge to students for the 2026/27 academic year is £600.00

For the 2026/27 academic year, North Yorkshire Council (NYCC) bus passes are priced at £846.00; however, students are only required to pay £600.00, with the remaining balance covered by the College. To get the discount students must complete both the online 16–18 Bursary Fund application form and the S6F bus pass application form.

Please note that only students with 2026/27 academic bus passes are eligible to travel on College and NYCC transport services and do not accept single journeys

How to apply for a college/NYCC bus pass

All students both new and returning will receive a text at the end of July with a link for them to complete on a digital application form notifying us of their route into college so that we can ensure that students get the correct pass or be advised of best travel routes.
