Entry Requirements
In GCSE English Language and Maths, a minimum of a grade 3 in one and a grade 2 in the other plus some GCSEs at grades 3 or 4
Subject Intent
The travel and tourism industry makes up 10% of all the employment in the UK and as a tourism town, Scarborough is the perfect place to study the course and gain relevant experience. This course provides the skills, knowledge and experience to advance onto our level 3 course and then into higher education, or progress directly into the workplace.
Course Introduction
This course will give you the foundation for a career in the travel industry. You will study Travel and Tourism in the UK learning about the UK as a tourist destination and the developments in tourism which are constantly changing with the modern times. You will gain skills in customer service and understand the importance of good service in a range of industries. You will also study events management which is a growing market.
The final unit examines how tourism affects a host city and the impact, both positive and negative, it can have to the residents as well as the tourists. The course includes relevant work experience, trips and visits within the industry. The course has a variety of assessment methods including written assessments, role plays, interviews, presentations, delivering an event, and videos. Travel & Tourism provides an excellent grounding for either further study or direct entry into employment within the sector.

Assessment
This course is 100% internal assessment and has no exams. Assessment is made through a variety of methods across each module which can include practical role plays, verbal interviews and presentations.
All judgements are externally quality assured.
